What To Expect

Feel better, look better, live better.

There’s nothing generic about you, so why settle for generic medical care? Here at The Men’s Clinic in South Carolina, we’re experts in men’s health. We believe all men deserve to live their best life, and that achieving optimal health and wellness requires treating each patient holistically. To realize that goal, we take a personalized and science-backed approach to men’s healthcare that is professional, convenient and confidential. Our practice maintains the highest medical standards while offering men a comfortable environment in which they can speak openly about their health concerns and get the comprehensive care they need.

Why We’re Passionate About Men’s Health

For years, men’s health initiatives have lagged behind women’s health initiatives. We are now facing a gender-based disparity in health outcomes. In many societies, the average male lifespan is shorter than the average female lifespan. Men have higher rates of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, in addition to facing conditions like prostate cancer. Men are also more likely to encounter occupational hazards at work and to engage in high-risk behaviors like excessive alcohol consumption.

Furthermore, social factors like stereotypes about masculinity are taking a toll on men’s health globally. Many cultures believe men should be strong and self-sufficient, and mistakenly view seeking assistance or advice as weakness. As a result, men are more likely to skip routine checkups and delay getting medical attention for symptoms of a health problem. When they do seek care, they are often more uncomfortable discussing their concerns and less likely to follow through with their doctor’s recommendations. Men’s health issues are underdiagnosed, undertreated and not discussed often enough.

This needs to change. Efforts to improve public health must attend to the health needs of both sexes and acknowledge the differences between them. In focusing on men’s health, our goal is to increase access to and ease of medical care for men, and to tailor our strategies to the unique needs of men at different stages of life.

Who We Help

The Men’s Health clinic sees patients seeking help with a variety of symptoms that affect men’s physical, mental and emotional well-being, including:
  • Low energy levels
  • Lack of drive and motivation
  • Struggles with concentration or memory
  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Loss of muscle mass, strength and endurance
  • Mood changes, anxiety and depression
  • Low libido
  • Decreased sexual performance
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Changes in the skin, hair or nails

Men’s Health Conditions We Treat

Although men are affected by many of the same medical issues as women, they also face unique conditions that benefit from treatment by experts in men’s health, like the following:

Low Testosterone

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone. It is made in the testicles and, to a lesser extent, the adrenal glands, then secreted into the blood where it acts as a chemical messenger that stimulates specific actions in the body. Testosterone is involved in the development of the sex organs and secondary sexual characteristics. It also plays an important role in sex drive and performance and in a variety of essential bodily functions.

Testosterone naturally declines with age. This natural loss is compounded by health and lifestyle factors that can lower testosterone levels even further. Low testosterone (Low T) has been associated with a range of symptoms, including decreased libido, diminished muscle mass, increased body fat, depression, fatigue and hair loss. Testosterone replacement therapy can help address these symptoms and restore the vitality and performance men enjoy when they are younger.

Premature Ejaculation

For some men and their partners, premature ejaculation (PE) is only an occasional nuisance. For others, it is a source of lifelong disappointment, embarrassment, frustration and shame. PE can make sex less satisfying and enjoyable, and can lead to avoidance of physical and emotional intimacy. Men who struggle with PE fall into two categories: those who have struggled with premature ejaculation since their earliest sexual experiences and those who develop issues later in life after years of normal functioning.

Although many men find it difficult to talk about PE with a doctor, it is a treatable condition with the right approach. PE treatments can enhance function and duration, making both you and your partner happier in and out of the bedroom. We work closely with our South Carolina patients to diagnose the unique causes of PE for each individual and to identify effective treatments that will promote enhanced sexual pleasure for both partners.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction, sometimes referred to as ED or impotence, is characterized by an inability to develop or maintain an erection during sexual activity. This difficulty can be caused by a range of factors, both physical and psychological. Many things that are unhealthy for the body generally — like obesity, tobacco use, sleep disorders and overconsumption of alcohol — also impact the body’s ability to maintain an erection. Erectile dysfunction is also linked to specific medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and some prescription medications. Other causes of ED arise in the brain, such as stress, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem.

Addressing erectile dysfunction effectively requires consideration of all of these factors. The Men’s Clinic recommends ED treatments based on each patient’s individual needs. We work closely with our patients to find solutions that optimize sexual performance while improving their emotional health, their relationships and their self-esteem.

It Starts With a Personalized Treatment Plan

The Men’s Clinic specializes exclusively in diagnosing and treating men’s health issues. We collaborate with each patient to design a program that meets his specific needs, starting with a thorough initial consultation. During this one-on-one discussion, you will have a comprehensive evaluation that includes a conversation about your symptoms and challenges, a review of your health history and a lab panel to determine if you have any hormonal imbalances.

Come prepared to speak openly and honestly with our staff. Candid communication is essential for planning treatments appropriately and getting the best results. Rest assured, your visits to The Men’s Clinic are completely confidential. We go above and beyond to maintain a comfortable, discreet environment and to protect the privacy of our patients. We are committed to ensuring you feel safe, respected and confident in the decisions that are made about your care.

Depending on what is detected during your initial consultation, your doctor may recommend additional testing or blood work. Then, once all available data has been gathered, you will receive a personalized treatment plan that’s customized to your needs.

Testing, Treatment and Monitoring

Every treatment at The Men’s Clinic begins with comprehensive lab testing focused on the essential pillars of men’s health. This panel includes multiple tests that give detailed insight into your health, including hormone levels, blood cell counts, vitamin deficiencies, fluid balance and more. You will receive the results of these lab tests within 24 business hours.

Once this screening has taken place, we have the broad overview of your health we need to make personalized recommendations. We will discuss your results and ensure you have a thorough understanding of what they mean and what treatment options are available to you. We strive to create an open environment in which you can ask questions and become informed about your health.

As your treatment progresses, we will monitor its success closely. You may notice some benefits in a matter of days or weeks, while other results can take longer to appear. We will continue to observe your hormone balance, your energy levels, your physical performance, your mental well-being and other factors that contribute to optimal health. Our providers will repeat the lab tests every six months and adjust your treatments as needed. If you ever feel like you’re not seeing improvements, don’t hesitate to let us know. Follow-up testing and/or changes in your treatment plan may be necessary to get you the results you deserve.
